About Preston Sykes

A small-town boy at heart, Preston Sykes grew up in Logan, in the southern West Virginia coal fields — a town so small it did not get a big-box store until he was in high school. At 18, he joined the military and set out to see the world. His first assignment in Montana hooked him on the rural Western way of life, and he quickly developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors and a traditional, conservative lifestyle.
 
During a deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan, Preston found interacting with the locals both rewarding and eye-opening. Negotiation is woven into their culture, and his experiences in the Saturday morning bazaar sharpened his skills in listening, bargaining, and finding win-win solutions — skills he relies on today to advocate for his real estate clients.
 
Entrepreneurship runs in Preston’s blood. As a child, he watched his father build successful retail and wholesale businesses, which inspired his own passion for business and deal-making. Now, with 5 years of experience as a Realtor®, he combines that business foundation, his military discipline, and his negotiating background to guide clients confidently through one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.
 
Preston is especially passionate about helping first-time home buyers and military families. As a retired veteran who has relocated several times to new cities and small towns, he understands the stress, timing, and uncertainty that come with a move — and he uses that experience to make the process smoother for his clients. He strives to provide attentive, personalized service, always focusing on his clients’ needs, and he enjoys problem-solving and overcoming challenges with creative, practical solutions. He is patient and dedicated, never hesitant to take the time needed to help his clients find the right property.
 
Preston and his wife, Lana, a nurse practitioner at a local family practice office, are proud to call Cheyenne home. They enjoyed living in Cheyenne and Wyoming so much during his military career that, when he retired, they chose to stay because the lifestyle fit their family so well. They have three children — two adults and one in elementary school — and love the community’s “bigger little city” feel and small-town values, which make it a great place to raise a family. Outside of work, the Sykes family enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and rodeo. They share their place with two dogs, one horse, and a mule. Preston values spending time with friends and helping out with ranching activities.
